Lewis Lau
Lewis Lau, RP(Q) - $120/Session
Research tells us that the most powerful ingredient in counselling is the therapeutic relationship. That’s why my primary focus in therapy is to create a therapeutic relationship that can be a safe place in clients' lives where they can process everything they're going through without judgment. I draw on strategies and perspectives from various treatment modalities (e.g., CBT, DBT, ACT, ERP, trauma-informed lenses) that can be helpful to each situation that clients are presented with. I believe that an adaptive, integrative approach is often most helpful to clients. I also aim to make my sessions practical for clients. It is important to me that clients come out of our sessions with a useful tool that they can immediately apply to their lives.

What Therapy With Me Looks Like
My biggest goal with each session is to ensure that I create an environment that’s safe, supportive, exploratory, and practical. A session might look different from person to person, as everyone might have different concerns or needs that need to be met to help them feel safe and comfortable. The hope is that you can take away skills, insights, and concrete strategies from the session that you can use to navigate the challenges you face in your daily life.
Why Did I Become a Therapist?
I became a therapist simply because I love people and have a passion for seeing them find hope, peace, and joy. I love caring for and leading people toward psychological health and well-being, so it is a privilege for me to do what I do! It is an honour to connect with people daily and to walk with them through some of their most difficult seasons. I'm beyond thankful for what I get to do.
More About Lewis
I love what I get to do as a psychotherapist. In addition to this work, I also have the privilege of working as a teaching assistant at Brock University and as a community coordinator at my local church. I'm thankful that I get to live a life that's aligned with my values, including faith, relationships, health, leadership and fitness. I hope that the clients I work with also get to a place where the lives they live are aligned with their deepest values; that's a beautiful place to be.
